Reasons for Greetings and Farewells in Iitearh'o:

In Iitearh'o, Greetings and Farewells have actual in-world meanings.

First Greeting:

Bless this our sun

This greeting is used by the person to first speak up when two people are greeting each other. As many who follow the lore of Eihtioun know, the planet was cursed to wander the stars by a fallen goddess. Times when the planet is traveling between suns, an apocalypse falls upon the planet. Therefore, people say to bless the sun, as they pray for the curse to keep the planet circling the current sun as this is their time of peace.

Return Greeting:

And our three moons too

This greeting is said in return to the person who spoke the first greeting. This again refers to a piece of lore of the planet that Iitearho is located on. Circling the planet are three moons, each representing one of three sibling gods and goddesses known as "The Three Soulful Scourges", who are like the 4 Horsemen of the Apocalypse here on Earth. This acts as a prayer to the gods and goddesses to not let bad fortune fall upon the people.

Farewell:

Let death stand by you, brother/ sister

This is said by both people when leaving. It is a prayer to the Goddess of Death, Deiie, to stand by the other person and both protect them from harm and guide them well into the afterlife. Brother is said to a male, while sister to a female, because the Iitearh'o people all see themselves as grandchildren of moon, meaning they are far descendants of the Gods.
