Map of civil war of Xènia. Capture of Poeallaca. 2

After seeing their men decimated by a tiny army of nationalists, the anarchists decided to capture Poeallaca as a matter of urgency, as that was where the bulk of the supplies produced in the southern agricultural region came from.

And so, on 11 February 2153, the battle began. This time, the attacker was far more cautious, allowing the defenders to emerge from their trenches whilst blocking local supply routes. After two weeks, the nationalist forces had been halved in number and the anarchists succeeded in capturing Poeallaca.

But the nationalists were not going to stand idly by; and from the Mènf enclave they managed to advance to the coast and capture small villages without much resistance, and began to mass their forces near Sumatrok Yakartel, since, although it was a small town of almost 20,000 inhabitants, it was the only link between the towns of Poeallaca and Oitlaestaritq, as well as providing a connection between the two fronts.
