Adjectives & Compound Nouns
1 min read · 140 words
The placement of a word can depend on its part of speech and its position near a noun.
COMPOUND NOUNS
Compound nouns go before the noun, always connected to the base noun. For example:
電 + 體 + 車 = 電體車 /뒌섯카/
electricity + style + car = electric car (lit: electric style car)
ADJECTIVES
Adjectives go after the noun, and are usually separate from the noun, and often have hangul in between the characters or at the end. For example:
水 + 寒슽 = 水 寒슽 /솨 동슽/
water + cold = cold water
Adjectives can also attach to each other, using the 읮 connector (where ㅇ is replaced by the ending batchim in the adjective). For example:
水 + 寒슽 + 읮 + 冰는 = 水 寒스틪冰는 /솨 동스틪븍는/
(ice + cold) + water = ice cold water
