1st Person Subject Conjugation

1 min read · 120 words

To conjugate verbs in the first person, you must have the verb root. Nine and a half times out of ten, the verb root is just the dictionary form minus the infinitive -e.

  • Dorme → Dorm- (to sleep)

  • Ambule → Ambul- (to walk)

Once you have the verb root, you can usually just add -í for the singular. For example,

  • Dorm- → Dormí (I sleep)

  • Ambul- → Ambulí (I walk)

So, take the verb Fale (to speak).

  • Fale → Fal-

  • Fal- → Falí (I speak)

For the plural, you only need to take the conjugated singular form and add an N. Take the verb “to sing” for example.

  • Kante → Kant-

  • Kant- → Kantí

  • Kantí → Kantín (we sing)
