Flection

Although Fou Tong has lost all morphology of the Proto-Germanic and became isolating and analytic, its pronouns, copula as well as a few selected nouns and verbs preserve remains of synthetic inflection patterns. Here we summarize those currently known.

Pronouns

Personal Pronouns retain Direct and Oblique case - see more at Pronouns (upcoming)

ye [iɛ] / mi [mi] - First Person Singular (I/me)
zu [t͡su] / zu [t͡sɹ̪̍] - Second Person Singular (thou/thee)
se [xɯ̯ʌ] / er [ɐɻ] - Third Person Singular Feminine (she /her)
he [xɯ̯ʌ] / heng [xəŋ] - Third Person Singular Masculine (he/him)
yi [i] /wen [u̯ən] - First Person Plural (we/us)
ju [t͡ɕy]/ jiu [t͡ɕi̯ɤu̯] - Second Person Plural (you/ye)
hua [xu̯ɑ] / huang [xu̯ɑŋ] - Personal Interrogative (who, what /whom)

Note that third person singular pronouns can only be applied to humans, anthropomorphised animals and objects, and a few exceptional words (tba), while function of third person plural is carried by classifiers (upcoming)

Nouns

Few selected nouns preserve an oblique case. Those mostly derive from the nouns that retained r|l/n-flexion pattern which seems to be archaic already in Proto-Indo-European. The ones currently known are:

dūi [tu̯éɪ̯] / dūn [tu̯ə́n] - day
fō [fu̯ɔ́] / fěn [fə̀n] - fire
qiǎo [t͡ɕʰi̯ɑ̀ʊ̯] / qǐng [[t͡ɕìŋ] - child
sou [sɤʊ̯] / sun [su̯ən] - sun
wái [u̯ǎɪ̯] / wén [u̯ə̌n] - spring (season)
wǎi [u̯àɪ̯] / wǎn [u̯àn] - water

These nouns take direct case when being the subject and oblique otherwise.

Copula

The copula preserves the two Proto-Germanic tenses: Present and Past, as well as the newly developed Future. In present it also has the rests of som / izom conjugation as Pronominal Form - see more at Copula

xing [ɕiŋ] - Present Nominal
er [ɐɻ] - Present Pronominal
wa [u̯ɑ] - Past
bi [pi] - Future

Verbs

Some verbs, mostly suppletive or derived from those with significant root vowel change in Proto-Germanic preserve Past tense:

è [ɯʌ̂] / à [â] - eat
ga [ka] / jī [t͡ɕí] - go
jing [t͡ɕiŋ] / zhong [ʈ͡ʂʊŋ] - drink
pīng [pʰíŋ] / pàng [pʰâŋ] - bring

The past tense is used along with past tense marker/copula wa
